1st, 2nd 3rd person

She's using 2nd person, not 3rd.

It's not at all uncommon to say "you" when you mean "people in general."

It's odd to say "you should wear a coat" and mean "anyone should."

But these are all examples "you" that don't really mean YOU: "you'd never know it" or "you can see the ocean from here" or "you have got to be kidding me!"

Anon, did you actually read through this entire thread? It is FULL of examples.

1st=I
2nd=You
3rd=He

      singular           plural                

1st: I                     we

2nd:you                 you

3rd: he she           they
