1) We were all buffeted by the terrified crowd running.
or

We were all buffeted by the running terrified crowd .

which IS  grammatically correct? why?

2)

She stared at her love rival (mean the one who compete with her for the same guy, I'm unsure about this word, but  how can I express the idea in English away ?), affronted or affronting

I've seen people used afftonted and affronting, but which is better here?

Why?

My two cents:

1) Both of your sentences are correct. Choose one of them according to the meainig you want to give us.

2) I would use love rival too.

Affronted, if we are describing her own feelings.

affronting her, if we are describing the rival's feelings.
