hi, I have a few basic questions..

1-First of all are both sentences correct; if so what's the difference?

I travelled round the world

I travelled around the world

2- Do both sentences have the same meaning?

She was president in 1903

She became president in 1903.

3- In the question " When was the last time you went shopping?" why do we use the past form of the verb(what's the grammatical explanation) and is this a subject or object question??

Hi Jaso,

She became president in 1903. = She was made president in 1903.

To my mind, "She was president in 1903" does not give the same meaning. She could well have been elected/appointed in 1902 or earlier. Or maybe her presidency lasted only for a few months, say July-October 1903.
