1) Can I say: My watch strap has been torn apart or My watch strap has been broken?

2)Does a disident mean the same as a reactionary?

3) In ensuing years people__ into the state to try their luck

a) poured

b) flooded


The answer given is a but I think b will also do, doesn't it?

Hi,

1) Can I say: My watch strap has been torn apart or My watch strap has been broken? Why not just say 'My watch strap has/is broken'?

2)Does a dissident mean the same as a reactionary?
a dissident - someone who disagrees with the system
a reactionary - someone who thinks the old system was better


3) In ensuing years people__ into the state to try their luck

a) poured

b) flooded

The answer given is a but I think b will also do, doesn't won't it? Yes.
