Donna was a middle school student. She is (are you writing in present tense or past tense?) one member of the school football team. One day after school she went to the playground. She saw all her teammates standing around the field. Just then, Mr. Stanley came over to the football field and told them that he would take the place of Mr. Black and to be their coach. Then he told Donna he didn’t want any girls to be on the team, even though she was clever. She felt sad but she could do nothing except leave without saying any words.

A short time later, the school team played against another school. In the middle of the game, one of Donna’s teammates was hit by the ball and his head was hurt. Mr. Stanley had to let Donna come back on the team because they had no bench warmer.

Donna was so great that she scored at the last minute and her team won the game. Donna had never felt so happy. She showed to the new coach that he was wrong.
