Some poets must think it is a hell of a note that it takes a Pulitzer just to get their work read.
What does it mean " a hell of a note " ?
Thank you

a hell of a=remarkable (slangy)
thus
Some poets probably think this is a
remarkable reputation
(to have) that one's poetry is so sophisticated or difficult that obtaining a Pulitzer prize is necessary to make readers curious enough to start reading one's works.
