The scientists say people who keep a pet have a much reduded chance of Alzhimer's than those who don't.
The scientists say people who keep a pet have a less chance of Alzhimer's than those who don't.

Are they correct?

The first sentence is fine.  The second needs a bit of work.  "....have less of a chance of..."

I know your question has nothing to do with this, but the correct spelling is Alzheimer (I thought it was not a typo because you wrote it twice).
