Hi,
I'm studying English at the moment and I've a doubt. The nouns after "a lot of" have to be in singular or in plural?
Ex. Mary is doing a lot of exercise. or
Mary is doing a lot of exercises.
I hope that someboby can help me. Thanks.
Both of your examples are correct, but have different meanings.
"Mary is doing a lot of exercise" means that Mary is doing a lot of physical exertion.
"Mary is doing a lot of exercises" means that Mary is doing various types of physical exertion.
Thanks. It was very useful for me.
