Being a native dutch speaker who is also fairly good in English, I was asked to translate an existing software package. Most things were easy to translate (with the help of a good Dutch-English financial dictionary). So far, so good. However, I'm limited to a fixed length for most field names. So I ran into a problem when I needed to translate the following field name:
- Datum t/m
Which is essentially the same as:
- Date up to and including
My question is: is there a way to abbreviate "up to and including" or is there a synonym which means the same? We've tried the words "to" and "until" but in both cases this means that you are referring to the day before the date entered. This really is a problem to us because the software package is designed for the exact depreciation of fixed assets. Since the package also depreciates to the exact day, stating the correct date is absolutely essential. As you will understand, it certainly makes a difference when the depreciation stops at 12-31-2005 as opposed to 12-30-2005.
Many thanks for your help!
