Hello everybody, Smile [:)]

"Accounts receivable" is a term used in accounting

In this idiom, is "receivable" an adverb ?

If it was an adjective, the idiom should be "Receivable accounts" ?

May you help me ? Smile [:)]

It is a standardized name for the account book and line of the financial statement, not an idiom.  I presume that its source was something like Accounts [which are] receivable, but that is merely of historical interest.

'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master-- that's all.'

There are also other accounts that work on the same principle:
