Definition of Active/Passive sentences ie when it is active when it is passive for year 6 children to understand please (11 year olds).

Passive is: 'to be' + past participle. All else is active.

Note: Passive generally requires the subject and object to be reversed.

Active: I ate the cake.
Passive : The cake was eaten [by me].
