Yes, it is indeed pronounced with a long /i/ sound in British English; but I think the /es/ variant is also very common.
I was corrected years ago by a prominent art director that the "th" in "aesthetic" should be pronounced with just the "t"..For example, "Ees-t-etic".
Is the "th" in "aesthetic" pronounced with a "tha" or just a "t"?Another example would be pronouncing the "THAMES" river. Instead of saying "tha" you pronounce it like, "temes" like you would say "temple".
Please help me settle this argument with my hotshot copywriter nephew who believes it should be pronounced with a "tha".
