Hi Bennyman,

The likelihood that you'll get the response you want is less than miniscule. It took the CGEL about 1800 pages to cover the rules of English grammar and they ain't but half done.Wink [;)]

Can you state Basics then?

The basics usually take 20 odd, one hour lessons, Bennyman. Still too wide a scope. Try focusing on issues that you have problems with. That's the way to start.

If I may say so, Bennyman, your English sounds quite good to me.

Is there any particular reason why you're looking for a list of rules?

Hi, I have not been on these forums for ages, thus, I am not read all of these posts. As unfortunate as it may sound, I forgot all about this website. The reason I came by this website (again) was because I searched my nickname in google. However, the reason I asked the question in the above topic, was, because I wanted to improve my English, because it is as I always say: "There is always room for improvement," and that is what I sought, but perhaps you people are right, I should try to handle one problem at a time.

My problem then is, finding the problems, it's not as easy as it might sound, unconsciously - I might have a "habit" of writing something in incorrect grammar, therefor difficult to track down.

Anyway, thanks for you helps guys.

can you elaborate on it? and what grammar do you think is the most comprehensive? I have Collins which claims to be unique in its kind but it does not have some points which even some less comprehensive grammars have.  as nonnative speakers we suffer from this very much.  Is there such a grammar which obviates the need for any other?
