I came across almost used with comparative adjectives or adverbs, such as almost worse than. Just for almost worse, Google search shows over 90,000 hits.

What does almost worse than mean? not as bad / just as bad / almost as bad?

Does it mean if A is worse than B and C is almost worse than B, then C is better than A? Or what? If that makes sense, one must imagine an extra actor in the comparison. What a confusing phrase!

Thanks,
Hoa Thai

It is used, and it is rather vague, Hoa Thai.  It usually means 'also very bad' (just as bad).
