I'm surprised one of my favorite words has not made this list: a "chump" is someone who is foolish or a bit dumb. It is not really offensive, and it's fun to use. (Perhaps it's just fun for me. Big Smile [:D] ) It can be used in the same way "idiot" is used, and in some other instances.

"You chump!"

"He is such a chump."

Another good word for a stupid person is "clod," which can be used in the same manner as "chump."

half-wit
dipstick

dumb
dumbass
moron
*** for brains

Some words for crazy/insane

nut job
fruit cake
fruit and nut
nuts
mental
bonkers

Jerk is also a good word for someone who's being a pain in the @rse (pain in the @rse is itself a good one)

All these words are relatively mild especially compared to the c*** and f** words which could get you in *** if said to the wrong person.

English people have a tendancy to make up words or to distort the meaning of an existing word for the sake of slang (which I guess is why we have so much of it). So if you find yourself stuck for a good insult just call the person a funny inanimate object with perhaps 'face', 'head' or 'breath' appended to the end ('you turnip head' or 'mouldy cheese breath').

Isn't it funny how the swear words that are generally considered the strongest most offensive ones are generally names for the parts of our bodies that we use to procreate and that bring us the most pleasure! We really do have a hang up about the old S E X.

So call me a *** if you like it's my favourite thing on earth.
Call me a *** too, you wouldn't be wrong ( Though most of the time at present I'm more of a ***).
But, call me stupid and you may just find you've overstepped the mark.
