Sir,
1.I am working, am I not?
2.I am working, aren't I?
Which one is correct?
Why the last part the sentence "aren't" is called "tag question"?
Thanks.

Both are correct, Hanuman.
Like a small tag added to a piece of clothing, tag questions are like mini questions. They aren't full questions in the sense of seeking new info, rather they [normally only seek affirmation of info that is already shared in some sense.
It's a nice day, isn't it?, would be used when both parties are within the same weather zone. The info doesn't require outside confirmation.
