In a thank you note if I write "It was a magnanimous gesture of you to host the company Christmas party at your home."  Am I using the word magnanimous right?  Is the sentence grammatically correct?  Thanks Mikki

generous
should be enough

Magnanimous is fit for a prince or for Camelot.
Would feel inflated when used about/of anyone in this day and age.
