I suspect that 'tightly-knit' might be wrong.
If so, is there any good word in this context?

(1) One of the disadvantages of living in rural areas is that in rural areas human relationships
are generally tightly-knit and there is less privacy.

(2) For example, there is more pressure on women to marry and on men to take
over their family's business.

(3) Another disadvantage is that in rural areas it takes so much time to go to shopping districts.

(4) There are fewer choices of items and services and usually the prices are much higher than in cities.
