Hi,
could someone help me with the meaning of these "an animal of parts" and "Speckle-bottom" here?:
'Then to the corral, where the daughter of the house was on the training of a quarter-horse, an animal of parts an animal with outstanding and remarkable skills and capabilities (you can also speak of 'a man of parts')
named Speckele-bottom. It's a name. 'Speckles' are spots. It sounds like the horse probably has spotted hind-quarters.
Best wishes, Clive
