Hello,

Please, help me with the following:

Is  'gets left' some kind of passive meaning  'you leave it on the table' in the context:

At a buffet, remember the 'six out of ten' rule-any food that scores less than that on your 'I want it' scale gets left on the table and its place is taken by fruit or vegetable.

Thanks

I think the meaning is this: don't waste calories on foods that don't have a strong appeal for you, just because they are available.  Rate the appeal of each food on a scale of 1 - 10.  If the food rates less than a 6, it should be left on the table and you should take fruits or vegetable instead.

A buffet is where the food is all laid out on one big table and the guests all help themselves.
