I'm 19 years old, and LDS...I believed in dating after you turn 16...until one day...Youth Conference (camp), I met this hot girl that was only 15, we talked for a while and never left eachother out of sight; We had so much in common that I was shocked. The same day that we met, that night we were cuddling and holding hands and I totally forgot she was 15. The night was beautiful and cold while we were watching a movie outdoors. At that point I didn't care how old she was. In the beginning I seriously thought she was at least 16-17, the way she behaved. So from this point on I couldn't spend a minute being without her and I know that we were both totally in love and I didn't care what everyone else thought, I loved her and she loved me and we had thoughts and actions under control. And that's what it's all about.

Personally, I have friends who have dated all through high school and still ended up ok, now I admit they made bad choices in their BF or GF but dating is a form of companionship which is strong yet weak at the same time and its nothing like being friends with someone, but it is necessary. I am 18 now and in truth, never dated a guy even when asked out. Partly because I am asian and know my parents would never put up with it and partly because I was scared that it would always end and I would be hurt. Some of my friends are going to princeton and others to State Universities and I can vouch for them that dating is about learning how to control your emotions and your actions, and therefore it should be done.

I am scared that i will never be able to date cus I lack a daring persoanlity and then I would end up in an arranged marriage...yuck.

Dating is always a big part of learning. We learn to respect and care by realizing the true meaning of love. We learn to control our emotions when breaking up with your lovers, and learn to please others when the new one is coming. At least, we can also learn safe sex and contraception and all these are as important as 1+1=2 for growing up. What parents should do is to guide their children, but not eliminate their desire to love and to be loved unless your they want you to be a Puritan.

The age 18 is a crunch(turning point) in people's lives as it's the age you become regarded as a mature and be allowed to do some things that you aren't let to do before.But as for dating in 18,i believe,the age 18 shouldn't set a limit for that.

nowadays, it's very common that youth under 18 engage in relationships.
i did not oppose this situation, but i hope those youth could think about something before they decide to have sex.

In this forum I realise how different cultures are, while for some people dating at 18 it's too early, in other countries, such as mine, you are considered an alien if you are 18 and still have not had a boyfriend or girlfriend.

I don't think you should worry so much about what your parents will think if you have a date. Parents always want their children to be happy, but they must realise that you must learn to take your own decisions. You might make mistakes, probably a lot of mistakes, but that is what growing up consists of.

Im for it but I havent even dated and Im now 17 years old bein a female 4rm Jamaica livin in da states aint easy especially if u just moved here datin helps a lot but I havent found anyone as yet.

If anonymous truly believes that 14 is the new 18, then anonymous must be 14.
The difference between those two ages is immense, just as the difference between 10 and 14 is immense.
A 14-year-old, in my opinion, is not ready to date.  16 seems like a good compromise.
