“ They'll become oddities. ”

I'm reminded of an episode at another forum.

That's great, but what does it have to do with the thread question?

Sometimes people are remarkably unaware of how much they themselves use "whom".

“You included?”

Not at all. My stats for 2008 are 3 times per 1,000 posts.

Off-forum, do you use it less now than in the past, MrP?

After prepositions, where I mostly use it, probably neither less nor more; elsewhere, I'm not sure.

So you'd also apply this to yourself, right, MrP?

No; I'm aware of how much I myself use "whom" now, but uncertain about how much I used "whom" in the more distant past.

It may not be said much (I rarely say it myself because I know many people don't like it), but it is still written.

I think, while we stil have he/him there is no good reason to abandon who/whom.
