1. A young kangaroo  is called a joey. / A tiger is a fierce animal.

2. The young kangaroo is called a joey./ The tiger is a fierce animaI.

 

Which sentences are correct? 1 or 2. Anyone can help me.

Look at the picture to make a simple sentence.    The picture show a joey.  Our teacher said must build the sentence like this:

A young kangaroo is called a joey. ( mean all the young kangaroo in this world is called joey) - correct

The young kangaroo is called a joey. (mean only that kangaroo is called a joey) - wrong

so..I'm blur..

Your teacher is mistaken.  Both are correct.  After viewing the picture, a student could make a good sentence referring either to the pictured kangaroo or to kangaroos generally.
