What are the rules of using articles in noun+proper name phrases such as telecommunications giant BP, car maker Ford, etc. Is it necessary to use "a", "the" or no article at all here, and what rules are to be applied. If you submit links to any reliable grammar source I would be really greatfull.
Thank you very much.
Max.
