About "as much as". What are its synonyms? Does it have only one single meaning or more than one meaning? Please give some examples.

Thanks in advance.

equal to

the same amount as

If you loved me half as much as I love you, life would be beautiful.

That's about as much as I can stand right now, thank you.

I'd like to make you suffer as much as you've made me suffer.

I'd be willing to pay as much as five grand for this car.

I can't think of other meanings off hand, but I'd have to Google or something to be sure.

Hi, Abil. Synonyms for example are "although" and "even though". "Much as" could be used similar to the word "almost" -

He does it as much she predicted.  (almost)

As much as he put a lot effort in it  my opinion hasn't changed. (although).

Much as I tried to play that part, nothing came out of it. (even though)

And of course it's used according written above.Smile
