Hi!

I just want to make sure that the use of the preposition FOR is right. Is is possible to drop it in the second sentence?

All I'm asking you for is to give me the wedding date.
The wedding date is what I'm asking you for.

Thanks in advance.

I'm sure you'll hear your first example said, but I prefer: All I'm asking you to do is give me the wedding date.

If you're asking "for" something you want a noun, not an action.

All I'm asking for is the wedding date.

The wedding date is what I'm asking you for.
