Hi everyone! I would like to ask for some help because I don't know what "move away" in the sentence below really means. Is its meaning literal?  I'm not a native speaker of the language so I suppose the one who could really tell me the real meaning of it are those using English as their 1st language. Thanks!!

Here is the sentence:

"The excerpt exemplifies some of the reasons why current researchers and wise educators are emphasizing a MOVE AWAY from science textbooks at the elementary grade levels:........"

I can't quite decide if this is literal or metaphorical - there is no physical movement of course, but yes, they are literally moving away from the use of these books to something else.
