1.At the beginning I train on bicycle when I go to the gym for training. [ This is to warm up the body. Afterwards, I start muscular training. There are a lot of machines to train different muscles.]

2. At the beginning the teacher asks the student how they feel. [ The lecturer always asks the student the following: How are you all?]

My question is on the words 'at the beginning'. Should it be 'in the beginning'?

'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master-- that's all.'

3. At the beginning of a month people have more money on their wallets.
4. At the beginnig of the marriage everything went smooth.
5. At the beginning of the game the home team looked/played better.
6 At the beginning of his/her carrier, the Prime Minister was very popular.
I just want to know whether you would write 'in the beginning' for any of the above examples.

Hi Rex

No, always at the beginning of... and at the end of:
at the end of the street
at the end of the lesson
at the beginning of the year

Cheers

3. At the beginning of a month people have more money IN their wallets. (ok)
4. At the beginnig of the marriage everything went smoothLY. (but something went wrong)
5. At the beginning of the game the home team looked/played better.(but as the game went on, the team did fare so well)
6 At the beginning of his/her carrier, the Prime Minister was very popular. (but not so later)

Except for # 3. # 3,4,5 sounded like something  went wrong later.
