in a movie I watched this dilouge:

A:you smell a good perfume...you smell as baby ***

B:thank you

in this case we see that the word, baby *** is not insulting,so why????

thank you....

I think you have misheard or misremembered 'you smell a good perfume...you smell as baby bit ch' makes no sense (even the 'you smell a good perfume' part is not right...was it 'you smell like a good perfume,'. Babies are generally considered to smell very sweet (apart from the nappies!).

Could it have been 'you smell like a baby', '***'. So she is not being compared to a baby ***, but to a baby, and being called ***. Sometimes people use normally insulting names as a jokey sort of nickname for each other.
