He had a reason for his music, because his lyrics weren't about
ho's or cars but things that happen and really draw you in. Kids to
white boys to even old people liked Tupac. That's what made him as real
as he was. And he always was down to die for what he represented.
So my top 10:
- Tupac
- Eminem
- Nas
- Dr.Dre
- Young Buck
- Kanye West
- Snoop Dogg
- LL Cool J
- Lloyd Banks
- 50 Cent (when he had serious lyrics)

sorry, exaclty when did 50 Cent have serious lyrics? And to the rest of
you prattling on about how other people are stupid to put Nas so high,
and then put 50 in your top 10--that makes me laugh, because DO YOU
FEEL THE IRONY?! 50 should be nowhere near your top 100, even--I've
said this about 80 times in 40 different places on this forum.
And to all the Nas haters, find about an hour and a half of free time,
and just listen to Illmatic, beginning to end. Forget God's Son,
Nastramadus, Stillmatic....just listen to Illmatic. If you can't
appreciate something so beautiful, if after listening to Illmatic you
still believe fools like Shaq--SHAQ?! Which anonymous fool put Shaq
there?--or 50 or Lloyd Banks or Young Buck or Mike Jones are better
than Nas, you really can't appreciate rap.

there is a strong case for each rapper to be crowned the best of all time , i mean we could write her for a thousand years debating and stating why we think that biggie is better than tupac couldnt we? some of the rappers you people are shouting out wouldnt even be fit to hold a box of tissues for jay-z while he spits verses in the booth! lil flip , lil wayne , ti etc get it straight people. sort it out those rappers arent the future they cant battle like jay-z can , he beat big daddy kane when we was in his prime. i cant even believe that nobody here has mentioned KRS-ONE the best rapper of all time. a career that spans 16 years and 10 albums and counting , he set up the temple of hip hop , the stop the violence movement and ruled hip hop with BDP in the 80's. all you suckers on here writing about hip hop , go back and study people , if ur serious about it you wont qoute distinctly mediocre rappers like the ones i qouted above. krs one is crazy , his lyrics are the best of any rapper ive ever heard, he would beat any rapper in a battle hands down any time , he could beat mc shan he can beat anyone! im stunned that no one here mentioned him , ok due to popular public opinon he lost to nelly but thats only because corporation hip hop simply overwhelmed the true history of hip hop that isnt represented by huge commercial establishments like universal records. krs one is the greatest rappers of all time he can do it all battle like a god , he can be funny he has good clarity , a unique voice , good crisp delivery , awesome subject matter , respect in the game/ all the necessary criteria matched for a good mc. plus hes from the south bronx the birthplace of hip hop. but dont forget he was born in Brookyln and so was 2pac. BROOKLYN BREED THE BEST MC'S , jay-z , biggie , krs one , tupac , talib kweli , big daddy kane , mos def etc , dont even tell me im wrong! i got ammo to take you down if you dare say that krs aint NO.1

a lot of people may say brooklyn breeds the best mc's but mostly this is said in the east coast. personally i beleive the best mc's come from all parts of the nation. people say brooklyn,queens,etc... has the best rappers cause hip hop supposedly started there, so naturally you hear stuff like that. so don't get mad if other people think different because of their culture. when i was younger i mostly listened to r&b i didn't listen to rap because i didn't feel it i didn't know ll cool j, rakim, krs one, run dmc, i tried but it just didn't fit my culture so when outkast, geto boys, came out i listend because i felt what they were saying through my southern roots,. some people say the south has no lyricists and crunk is not hip hop well crunk is not drunk it's embeded in slavery and opression. people listened to public enemy more than the geto boys but they didn't realize real black discrimination mainy comes from the south and legendary mc's like 8ball and mjg, 36mafia,david banner, scarface, sometimes outkast were overlooked and the west cosat was somewhat overlooked too snoop doog, ice t , xzibit are all great lyricists and some people say the south will fall off like the west coast did but guess what we wont stop listening to our own music so if you ask me the greatest mc's of all time i'll naturally say
1.scarface
2.tupac
3.outkast
4.nas
5.snoop dogg
6.david banner
7.bone thugs
