I agree with Shyne about the part of all these people bringing up these mediocre rappers. Lil wayne is a good rapper but he is just like everybody else. Ti, Lil Flip, young jeezy, lil wayne etc. their songs are all the same. They talk about nothing but *** rap. Nothing but ice, cars, money, and hoes. That *** is getting tired. I do agree that krs-one is a great lyricist but there is somebody better. NAS! Nas is hip hop at its finest. Just listen to Illmatic and you'll understand that nodoby can match Nas's lyrics. His flows are deep on that album. And you can't forget about some of his other albums: The Lost Mixapes, Stillmatic, Gods Son are classics too. Nas is the one who changed the rap game in the 90's. He paved the way for all these wac ass rappers now. I don't know what is happening to rap nowadays. I just can't wait for Nasdaq Dow Jones to drop and save the rap game.
1. Nas
2. Biggie
3. Krs-one
4. Tupac
5. Talib Kweli

Look i'm from the other end of the world then all you but maybe you can see things clearer when your looking from the outside in
but let me just say the best rapper in history is Christopher Wallace aka Biggie Smalls aka Frank White aka Notorious B.I.G
one question has to be asked that i havn't seen many people ask it, how can a person of that young age put words together so quickly so geniusly like that, sound so powerful, so smooth? Amazing.

you guys are *** crazy to call Eminem the best rapper. He is the most overrated rapper of all time. He is not a rapper he is clown and a comedian. The best rappers of all time are 2PAC followed by Nas. Guys, check the lyrics, the message behind the music.
Tupac rapped as if he had a mission. The majority of his rap about real issues. His message was clear, not too much yelling and screaming. Nowadays rappers are just ***. Biggie is good too, but the only reason he is often mentionned after Pac is because of Diddy and the fact that he was killed too. Diddy has been able to use his death and money to elevate Biggie and to elevate himself.
Those of you who mention 50 or Lloyd banks must be joking and if you are not, then you don't know rap.

This is probly the most ignorant list I'v heard. First of I have no probly with Eminem on your list, he's proven to reinvent himself with catchy, witty lyrics; so commercial Em gets serious consideration. Never-ever call tupac overrated especially when judging on his crowd friendly deathrow era, while completly ignoring the social responce from the lyrical mastermind. Anyone who has any respect for the history of rap will be paralyzed with rage on how The Game: "put the west coast back on the map." This is obsured and completely uneducated. The games style is a pop, Dre synthesized beat, who since the beginning of G-Unit is unentertaining and uncreative. TI, Paul Wall, and Mike Jones are all one-dimenstional, folllowing a sure hit pattern, and will therefore in the not very distant future, be replaced by similar sell-out "southern rapper". Also, I'm not mad at you for putting 3-6 on the list, but you put them on for all the wrong reasons. The mafia's underground revolution in the early 90's (with Run Rabbit and other unique beats) gave birth to some interesting and hard beats, "stay fly" is not a bad song but it shouldn't put them into the top ten. I haven't heard of Lil Wyte, bone thugs are ok (by no means top ten but there style is fun), and warren g is a true west coast bouncer, more the an Easy-E tattoo. Sorry for being harsh but the truth had the be said, diversify you sound to outside the southwest. Try some of these guys (in no particular order: Fugees, Roots, Tribe, De La Soul, Nas, Common, BIG, Rakim, Wu Tang, etc. Good luck, I hope this helped.
