I mean what about the greats like supernatural (which battled with juice another respected freestyler and slayed him on stage), juice himself, KRS-One, etc. I must say my top favourites are the good lyricists like the ones just mentioned, Big Pun, Immortal Technique, Notorious B.I.G, Big L, Nas etc. Problem these days is that a lot of artist seem to have forgotten what true rap/ Hip Hop is all about, these days its just a business and the majority is commercialized crap. And the problem is that too many people follow the MTV ***, i mean if the underground music was released like all this crap we hear on radio on my note commercial rappers dont stand a chance because of the greedy idiots that produce them. Just keep in mind when listening to a song.. Rap/ Hip Hop is not about some *** or hoe or what car i have, its about where we come from, what we feel, our thoughts, pains, struggles, background... its so much more than what its portrayed on the media.
