When do you use the word between and when do you use the words in-between? Is there a dash?

If I am referring to a street that is between two other streets (I will use the letter "H" as a visual example of the streets), do I use between or in-between?

What's the difference between between and in-between?

M Street and O Street are between N Street.

M Street and O Street are parallel streets, with N Street in[-]between.

One of those things that not all people agree on, by the way.
