Your one of those who don't understand binary.  OK, here goes.   Binary only uses the digits "1" and "0".   Thus "1" in decimal (the numbers you are used to) is also "1" in binary.  However, "2" in decimal is "10" in binary.  So when he says 'There are only 10 types of people' he is using the "10" as a binary number, not a decimal number.  Thats why there are only two types listed, he said there were only two types of people by using the binary equivalent of a decimal number.  Note: decimal to binary  1=1   2=01  3=11  4=100  5=101  etc.

Binary is based on 1's and 0's clearly hence binary (two digit) the number 2 in binary is represented by the four digits 0010 or in the joke "10" for short. in binary the first number starting with the left is equal to 8 then 4 then 2 then 1. so in the line 11 the number represented is 15. while 1110 is only 14.

I saw this on a t-shirt at the MIT (don't ask me to tell you what MIT is) Co-Op the other day, and thought it was nifty. It helps if you know about number systems with base 2 (binary), 3 (tertiary), ... base 10 (decimal), ... To that degree, it's an insider joke.
