Hi, can you tell me exact pronunciation of computer term BIOS (basic input / output system)

I've found pronunciation for bios, but think that abbreviations may be pronounced another way

Thanks in advance

Hi Ray,

Hmm, that's odd. I listened, and the speaker sounds to me like he gives it a slightly Spanish pronunciation.

I've always heard it said as

bi  sounds like 'buy'.

os sounds like the 'oss' in 'toss'.

Best wishes, Clive

I never took it as sounding Spanish. I've worked on and around computers for a very long time (since the time MS-DOS version 3.3 was the latest and greatest) and I've never heard any other pronunciation that the one on Answers.com.

OT

I used to work with a guy who pronounced DOS to rhyme with "dose." Of course, everyone else in the world pronounces it to rhyme with "floss."
