There is a new book out, published privately, entitled Body Idioms by May Pare which I discovered in Guardian Online. I contacted the author for a copy and it's excellent!

Her web site is http://www.bodyidioms.com/ If you don't have much money but would still like to have a copy, she does have some copies of her book which she will sell more cheaply because they were slightly frayed in transit.

I looked at the samples.  Very good book - can even learn which compound words are spelled as one word, which are (still) two words, which are hyphenated.   I'm a native 32 year-old American -  and "handpicked" was a new one-worder for me. :-) (my excuse is that I also speak French fluently.)
