That is a style question and not a grammar question, which means you need to find out what style the person you are writing the paper for prefers. These days, you almost always use italics for books and other publicaitons, and the title of the article in quotations, but the styles guides you're using may be different. If you don't have italics as an option, you are generally safe by underling the name of the book or magazine. There are also style guides for how you give the name of the author, publisher, publication date, page numbers, etc.
