Books are meant for reading, not just for showcasing or adorning a self in your study or drawing room.

Is the sentence correct?

Hi,
Not too many people today talk about their 'drawing room'.
In NAmE, the common term is 'living room'.

I see. I did not know that. Thanks Clive.

What about the British? Is "living room" also a common term in the UK?

Hi,
I  think so, but I'll let someone who is currently living in Britain answer that query.(:)) Smile

The original comment that Books are meant for reading, not just for showcasing or adorning a self in your study or drawing room
makes me think of a quotation from the writings of Francis Bacon, that Houses are for living in, not for looking at.

(I may not have remembered the exact wording, but it's close.)

Best wishes, Clive

Living room.

My grandparents used to talk of the drawing room.

Hi,
I remember that some people used to say 'lounge'.
Is that completely naff now? I think it always was.
