I am an Arab with good language. I have been preparing a presentation and got stuck formulating one of the sentences. I have difficulty resolving this using my sense of the language which is why I am reaching for help/advice. The sentence is:

"Both of the quotient and reminder is/are considered an outcome of the division operation". The difficulty I am having may've been due to the use of "an outcome" which is obviously singular. Can I say "are considered an outcome", or should I say: "is considered an outcome". My head is spinning . I want a good formulation to emphasise the fact that both are results of the division operation that need to be calculated when the division is implemented in a digital circuit, despite of people's tendency to regard the quotient as the main result or the mathematical notation where the remainder is expressed using a different operator (the "mod" operator).

Thank you in advance for the help.

“Both of the quotient and reminder is/are considered an outcome of the division operation”
All you need is this:

Both the quotient and the remainder are considered outcomes of division.

You can even omit considered.

Hmmm, "both of which are outcomes of the division operation".

That is a pretty solution, shukran .
