Hi,
Can anyone help me with this dialog? Especially with the "bow gates" part..
- Darling, you’re sailing too fast. Weld the bow gates shut.
- You just worry about your own bow gates.
Can you provide some context? Are they on a boat?
Some comments. A ship like a car ferry has bow gates, to load/unload cars. Some ferries have sunk because the gates were not properly closed. Welding them closed would certainly make them safe.
On the other hand, I wonder if 'Weld the bow gates shut' here means 'Close your mouth and stop talking'?
Best wishes, Clive
