I think American English sucks. No doubt it's easier for a non-native speaker to understand.. but why must they change the spelling?

"Sucks", of course, is an American word!

Usenet is like a herd of performing elephants with diarrhea - massive, difficult to redirect, awe-inspiring, entertaining, and a source of mind-boggling amounts of excrement...

1. Canadian English, I think, is sort of a hybrid mix of American English and British English. Not so much French. Unless, of course, you're talking about Quebec, where nobody seems able to stick to just one language.
2. I don't see much of the past simple with "yet," even here in North America; usually people do indeed use the perfect present. Maybe a few people don't, but I think it's generally considered wrong. Even my American friends don't seem to use it...

But British have different accents along different places Orpheus, even inside England there are different accents, I heard them!

Hitchhiker, if it's the same as Spanish of Spain and Spanish of America, I don't consider American English a development of British English, to me there are English of America and English of Britain, they ran in different way.

I have a lot of funny words which mean very different things in Spanish and in Argentine-Spanish, as this is an English forum I won't relate them but if anyone interested, let me know.

And there are quite a few of them which are everyday used in Spain, which sound terribly rude in some South American countries.
