Reading books broadens our mind.

Trevaling in foreign countries has long been his hobby.

Helping others gives me great pleasure.

May I ask if I can rewrite those sentences into the following ones?

It broadens our mind reading books.

It has long been his hobby trevaling in foreign countries.

It gives me great pleasure helping others.

Thank you!

.
I suppose you can, grammatically, but they are stylistically awkward.  The infinitive is the usual.
