Butterfles in your stomach is a metaphor for fear.)

CJ. really? I always hear it used when people go on blind dates. Is there another meaning? Like sexual attraction, chemistry?

You don't consider blind dates a cause for fear?

I thought about it when I read your post but maybe because my brain has always associated the phrase with 'chemistry', I felt it might have another meaning.

Thanks, CJ for confirming.

Butterflies in your stomach often means the "stage fright" or "performance anxiety" kind of fear -- not the "sheer terror" kind of fear.

It would be entirely inappropriate to describe the fear of airplane passengers knowing the plane was about to crash as mere "butterflies in their stomachs"!

Yes, thanks to CJ explanations I translated it more like fever than fear.

Cheers CJ!
