If I write:

She deleted the file by accident.

Does it mean that she knows she has accidentally deleted the file or she doesn't?

The scenario is that she deleted a number of files together, and she didn't know that a particular file was also deleted in the process.

She accidentally deleted the file. She may have realised this or not. The sentence 'She deleted the file by accident' doesn't tell you either way.'
