Hello Libberguy
Here are some examples:
1. 'She cajoled me into taking her to a restaurant' = 'although I was at first reluctant to go, she used various enticing methods to persuade me to take her to a restaurant'.
2. 'She flattered me' = 'she said very nice things about me, in order to make me like her more'. (This may have been one of her 'enticing methods'.)
3. 'She trifled with my affections' = 'for her own reasons, she simulated more pleasure in my company than she in fact felt, even though she knew I was taking it very seriously'. (This was certainly one of her 'enticing methods'.)
