Do you call 'compound nouns' set nouns in AmE?

Is the following sentence correct?

The sentence is correct, but I've never heard of 'set nouns', so I cannot answer the question (if you were in fact looking for an answer).

I wasn't looking for an answer. There is another question. I used single quotation marks in:

Do you call 'compound nouns' set nouns in AmE?

Would there have been any problem if I have used double quotation marks as in the following sentence?

Do you call ''compound nouns'' set nouns in AmE?

No problem in my book.  I used them almost interchangeably, unless I am actually quoting someone.
