Hi,

Is extinct a correct word to use in a sentence like this?

 "Her young hopes are extinct."

Thanks

I thought that extinct is only used for things like animals and living beings.

I had another question too. Is "young" correct in that sentence? Should it be "youth" or "young"?

Thanks
