Nice thread. Sorry I missed it. Sad [:(]

Anyway, I don't agree with name translation and not only because sometimes the equivalent does not exist. If someone's name is Charles, he is just Charles, not Carlos. If someone is called Juan Pablo, why should we call him John Paul? I am Raul (with a "´" over the u), not Raoul.

However, we have to face the fact that there's a lot of name translation in History books for practical purposes.

No. I have seen it written as "Raoul" sometimes and English speakers have some difficulty to pronounce it.
