I went to an on-site interview. After the interview I sent a thank-you email to the interviewer.

A few days later, she replied:

"Nice to chat with you, too. Sorry for the late reply. It has been hectic lately - maybe you'll soon experience this first-hand."

I am so confused with her words. Can someone explain what she is talking about?

It was nice to talk to you too ( you must have said in your thankyou email that it was nice to talk to her and she is saying that she had a nice experience talking to you as well).

Sorry for the late reply.
She is appologizing for the time it has taken her to respond.

 It has been hectic lately
It has been very busy recently.

Perhaps you will experience this yourself soon. (This sounds to my like she is implying that you may be working there soon and so therefore will know yourself what it is like.)

I am so confused with her words. Can someone explain what she is talking about?
Hope this helps, let us know if you get the job. Smile [:)]

Is this correct "It was hectic lately", instead of "It has been hectic lately"

It has been hectic lately -- Correct

It was hectic lately -- Incorrect

But it's okay to say something like: Yesterday was a very hectic day.
