I don't really know where to post this. It's not a grammar question nether a vocabulary in my opinion..

Well, should we use a capital letter after a question mark or an exclamation mark? This question came to my mind in a sudden when I was writing a post...Thinking [*-)]
...I know, I know..it's a stupid question...Sad [:(]but I've never known that, well, maybe it's like Spanish and there is no need of capital letters after the marks...

Thank you in advance!

YEs, those count as the close of a sentence, so the next word starts a new sentence with a capital letter.

Hi,

should we use a capital letter after a question mark or an exclamation mark?

Yes. These things mark the end of a sentence, and thus you need to start a new sentence.

Best wishes, Clive

Oh, oh..I don't know what I was thinking about..!Maybe it's that I haven't slept these days..well, I just realised that in Spanish there is no need to use capital letters after ":" and not after exclamation marks or question marks! I don't know how it is called in English. And my next question is..is capital needed after ":" aswell?Thinking [8-)]

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

And my next question is..is capital needed after ":"

No. Although there can be special cases where one is used, eg if the following word is a proper name.

My favourite authors are: Shakespeare, Dante, Mickey Spillane, . . . Smile [:)]

Best wishes, Clive
